ARCHITECTURE, SUSTAINABILITY AND EFICIENCY
CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM
We want to have a direct impact on the landscape having a same language as always: we want to create the feeling that the building has always been there. All exterior materials are proposed in brutalist white poured concrete that will work structurally.
FLEXIBILITYAND ADAPTABILITY
Since the building is thought of large open spaces, not only for exhibitions and gatherings but the building as a whole can be adapted into any purpose or any use if desired.
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR FINISHES
All interior finishes are thought of white smooth planes. Materials can vary. All exterior, as mentioned, of brutalist white poured concrete, not only because of its rough texture but for its permanence and zero maintenance.
WATER MANAGEMENT
Since the proposal contemplates a large body of water, the desire is to recycle and reuse all in places that should use water. We plan it to be used as a storm tank in order to reuse rain.
FACADES
Since there is a mixed use in buildings, language is a key factor that determines architectural language. Permanence is a key issue. Timelessness is achieved by the use of a universal language: a grid that works as a window pattern that opens at its most in housing and closes totally in the Cultural Center section.
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITIES
The building as a whole has the uniqueness to be adapted, in the sense that all natural resourses can be managed in our benefit. Sunlight and rain can be reused to have a building that causes lower impacts. We studied the possibility that can be achieved of having a LEED gold environmental certificate.
URBAN CONTEXT
Thanks to the original urban design this building is. The proposal tends to be a building “that has always been there”.
ECONOMICAL, SOCIAL AND EDUCATIVE ASPECTS
This building tends to be a growth pole of the area, not only for its qualities of the proper use of the building but because the simple gesture of having a large lot that is transformed for a public recreational space tends to be a detonator for business and community growth. The buildings create the proper language to invite the public to be not only part of it but to make it theirs and own it as a community.
